Privacy and child safety

airand.space is free, for everyone, and used by many students. It is built to collect nothing about you.

The short version

Reading the site

The site is hosted on Google's Firebase Hosting. Like any web host, it receives standard technical information, such as your network (IP) address and browser type, in order to send you pages. We don't use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and our fonts are served from our own site rather than a third party. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved only in your own browser.

Children

This site is meant for a general audience, including students of all ages, so we design every part of it as if the visitor might be a child. We don't ask for names, ages, email addresses, or any other personal information, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. There are no forms, chats, or comment boxes. We built the site this way to meet the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.

No AI-generated responses. As a firm policy, nothing on airand.space uses AI to respond to what a visitor types or does. Our interactives are ordinary, predictable code, and every chapter is reviewed and fact-checked by people against historical sources before it is published.

For teachers

Students can use every part of the site without an account or sign-in, and nothing they do on it is recorded. Chapters point to the historical sources they draw on, so students can check what they read.
